- Chest circumference: Place the tape measure horizontally over the fullest part, without tightening.
- Shoulder/sleeves: Measure from shoulder to shoulder; the outside of the sleeves from the shoulder tip to the wrist.
- Length: From the shoulder above the collar to the hem.
- Measure under clothes: With the top you typically wear underneath.
- Measure in the afternoon: Body measurements are then closer to reality.
- Silhouette versus comfort: Between two sizes → for a close fit smaller, for more layering/comfort larger.
- Broad shoulders/strong arms: A larger size for greater freedom of movement in the shoulders & sleeves.
- With a hoodie/a sweater underneath? Allow for one size larger.
- Waist circumference is more important than weight: First focus on Chest and Shoulder, then check the waist/length ratio.
- Fabric & padding: Thick fillings are heavier; if you want a garment that highlights your silhouette, choose a smaller size.
